After finishing a degree in History and Italian at the University of Manchester, Oscar spent some time working in the charity sector as a fundraiser. Soon enough, however, his attention returned to the world of research and academia, and he enrolled at UCL to study Global Migration. Oscar’s interest in migration intersects with a range of other topics, including climate change, international development, and social policy, to name but a few. His research dissertation used qualitative methods to analyse the practice of ‘pushbacks’ in the Western Balkans region, examining how these illegal border practices manage irregular migration flows to the EU. Oscar joined Blue Marble with the aim of honing his research skills by taking on projects across a range of sectors and employing qualitative and quantitative methods as required.
Outside work, Oscar enjoys cooking (and eating) – particularly Italian food, having lived and studied in Bologna for a year as an undergraduate student. He also regularly plays 11-aside football with university friends in London.
