Young Enterprise: Financial Education Research

In 2022, Blue Marble was commissioned by Young Enterprise to survey teachers to understand the reality of financial education delivery in UK schools. Surveying 400 primary and secondary teachers across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, we provided robust data on the major barriers faced in delivering the subject.

We also shed light on the reality of ring-fenced funding for financial education, as well as on awareness of whether the subject is a curriculum requirement. The report highlighted that teachers see a major roles with the provision of financial education for young people, however more than half of teachers delivering financial education find it challenging.

In 2023, we presented this research in Parliament, as part of an inquiry by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Financial Education. The research informed a report by this APPG, which recommended that Ofsted undertake a series of deep dives into financial education provision across schools.
